Integrative Aromatherapy for Practitioners

This intensive 90- hour course is designed for herbalists, nurses, massage therapists and other health care practitioners who want to learn more about the healing powers and benefits of essential oils. Integrating concepts from the fields of Chinese medicine, Ayurveda, western herbalism, and biomedical research the course offers in-depth coverage of over 50 essential oils, absolutes, and vegetable oils and discusses the available information concerning their use in regards to all the major systems of the body.

This class offers a holistic approach to aromatherapy, allowing students to learn both the art and science choosing appropriate essential oils for each unique case. Students will value essential oils for their whole quality, and synergistic properties, customizing balanced, effective blends rather than reducing aromatherapy to the “silver bullet” healing approach often advocated in allopathic medicine.

Prerequisites: Students are expected to have formal training in an appropriate health related field and familiarity with basic principles of anatomy and physiology. Prior knowledge of principles of Chinese Medicine or Ayurveda will be helpful but is not mandatory as these topics will be covered as needed in the course. Students will receive approximately 50 unique, in-depth handouts.

• Blending; top, middle and base notes, synergy
• Making; salves, spritzers, bath salts, candles, oils, flower waters, hydrosols, ointments & candles!

Tuition: $900, includes an essential oil starter kit.
Students will have a required reading list.
