THE Center for vital living

ASHH conducts evening lectures and various workshops at The Center for Vital Living, West Asheville’s Apothecary, Complementary Care Clinic, and Healing Arts Center. The center is home to a variety of holistic health care practitioners. Students benefit from discounted treatment prices as well as exposure to exemplary professionals.   A cornucopia of classes and workshops are held at the Center including movement classes from Qi-Gong to Salsa. We host free classes for the community as well as benefits and fundraisers. Students receive discounts to all classes held at the center. The Center for Vital Living offers a truly unique opportunity to explore whatever modality of life enhancement peaks her/his interest. We are dedicated to exposing people to a plethora of options to enhance quality of life.

West Asheville , voted best neighborhood in Mountain Express’ 2005 reader’s poll, is a burgeoning neighborhood ever expanding its gifts to those who live there and those who visit. The Corner of Westwood and Haywood is largely responsible for West Asheville’s ranking as America’s #1 eco- neighborhood in Natural Home Magazine thanks to our 2006 Urban Permaculture workshops designed to revitalize our community.  On one corner horticulturist Christopher Mello has reclaimed a vacant lot and transformed it into a beautiful garden open to passers-by. Another corner is home to the Gas-Up which is proud to offer the first BioDiesel pump in NC! Currently several students and faculty members of ASHH are running their cars off of vegetable oil. Next door to ASHH are Second Gear a store of recycled sports equipment, and Harvest Records, voted best record store in Mountain Express’ 2005 reader’s poll. Down the street, the Haywood Rd. Food Co-op offers delicious organic food, a weekly farmer’s market featuring local foods, and 10% discount on herbs to ASHH students!
